Pham has 2 hits helps White Sox win in debut

Kellie Harper is out as Tennessee's coach, the school announced Monday.

Harper, who was a three-time national champion as point guard for the Lady Vols, led Tennessee to a 108-52 record (53-24 in SEC play) in five seasons. The team was a No. 6 seed in this year's NCAA tournament, losing in the second round to 3-seed and Final Four-bound NC State.

Tennessee was considered a bubble team for the NCAA tournament for a large stretch of December and January. The Lady Vols opened the season at No. 11 in the AP Top 25 preseason poll, but fell out of the rankings in late November and didn't return this season.

The Lady Vols head coaching vacancy is the second major change in the SEC this season after former Virginia Tech coach Kenny Brooks was named head coach at Kentucky.

In other coaching news, Miami's Katie Meier announced she was retiring after 19 seasons with the Hurricanes.

Lisa Stockton also retired at Tulane after 30 years as the Green Wave's head coach. And David Six retired at Hampton after a 15-year tenure.
